Quetta: At Least Six Suspected Terrorists Belonging To The Extremist ISIS (IS) Group Were Killed During An Operation By The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) In The Eastern Bypass Area.
According to the report, a CTD spokesman said that a fierce exchange of fire took place during the intelligence-based operation on the report of presence of militants in the area.
During the operation, the CTD also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from a house that was being used as a hideout for members of the banned organization, the statement said.
The spokesman said that a “huge terrorist plot” by ISIS in Quetta had been foiled.
He further said that the operation was carried out by Balochistan Anti-Terrorism Department within the limits of Manzoor Shaheed Police Station in Quetta District.
The CTD said it acted on information from sources that Asghar Samalani, a member of ISIS, whose head was valued at Rs. The QDA on the Eastern Bypass was in the general area of the cemetery.
The spokesman said they were about to attack a sensitive installation in Quetta when a CTD team arrived on the scene and stopped the terrorists.
According to the statement, CTD personnel asked the militants to surrender but they started firing indiscriminately and hurled grenades.
Meanwhile, an exchange of fire took place in which 6 members of ISIS including Asghar Samalani were killed while 4 to 5 managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.
The spokesman said that efforts were being made to identify the remaining members of ISIS and an FIR had been lodged with the CTD police station in Quetta in this regard.
Items recovered by the CTD included an improvised explosive device (IED), three sub-machine guns with 200 rounds, two 9mm pistols with 47 rounds, a grenade and two motorcycles.
