Heavy Snowfall In The United States, School Closures In Several States, Emergency Declared

Washington: Snowfall Paralyzed Normal Life In Various States In The United States, Including The Capital Washington DC.

According to US media, an emergency was declared in Washington DC after 9 inches of snow and schools were closed. Public transport was also suspended due to snow on the roads.

Some places in Virginia and Maryland recorded 12 inches of snow. Heavy snowfall has left people stranded in their homes.

The snowfall also affected electricity and communications systems. Work is underway to remove snow from roads and homes. Dozens of flights were canceled due to severe weather and hundreds of passengers were stranded at airports.

The Meteorological Department has forecast more snowfall.
